Welsh Nursing Shawl 10393

Once common to most Welsh households, these Welsh nursing shawls were used to snuggle baby against your body keeping hands free to work , there are now  few in circulation and very few indeed that are in good condition. Fine wool,they were well used, often for several generations and after that were perfect to wrap up in on a chilly winters night and as a consequence were often  worn thin.

This lovely example in peach and cream plaid does have quite a number of well executed darns and a very faint mark , but is most certainly the best example we have at the moment.
