Jen Jones wish to share her love of Welsh Quilts and to promote a wider understanding of the importance of this regional art form reached a new level in 2009 with the opening of the Welsh Quilt Centre in Lampeter's old Town Hall. The quilts give everyone the opportunity to see, enjoy and learn about her remarkable collection as well as examples from other quilting heritages. It is the hope of the centre to bring the attention of the world to this wonderful craft and to put the Welsh quilt into the context of the farms, valleys and towns where they were made. The Centre also provides a focus for a historical archive of Welsh Quilting in Wales and the wider world.
As well as exhibitions of quilts, the centre aims to stimulate Welsh quilting in its heartland. Whether you are experienced or a total beginner, our regular quilting workshops and quilting taster days offer personal tuition to small groups. With the course subscription you get free entry to whatever exhibitions are on at the time.
The Welsh Quilt Centre also has a notable Gallery Shop full of Welsh Heritage gifts and unusual cards. Within the building, Jen's daughter Mal and son-in-law Arif run the Town Hall Cafe-Deli – local produce, home cooked daily specials, served in a congenial and popular atmosphere.
