The Welsh were not renowned for their applique - it  was usually just added for accent and whole applique quilts are a very rare find .

Red and orange flowers with green stems appliqued to white background then quilted in the traditional Welsh manner.

Quilting includes central coin with leaves and spirals , applique is by both hand and machine .

Victorian Cotton.

Excellent order ( faint mark at edge )

Superb wall hanging or  bed cover -  design your room around it .

Jen has a small number of applique quilts in her private collection. Several have American connections

( stories of travel to and from the USA where applique was plentiful  - emigration and repatriation )

Two of the most important applique quilts, however, were made by a Catherine James of Troed y Rhw  and this quilt has many similarites .
